Progressive Steps Toward 100% Sustainable Ocean Management
It’s important to note that countries are at different stages in their
journey towards sustainable ocean management. The goal is to achieve 100% sustainable management of a country’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), gradually expanding the scopes of their management efforts over time. This phased approach allows for learning, capacity building, and adaptive management as countries work towards comprehensive coverage. Specific steps and timeline for reaching full coverage may vary across countries, reflecting different starting points and needs.

Le Groupe de haut niveau pour une économie océanique durable (Groupe Océan) est une initiative mondiale menée par 14 dirigeants mondiaux engagés à créer une économie océanique durable qui concilie protection efficace, production durable et prospérité équitable. Depuis sa création en 2018, le Groupe Océan collabore avec les gouvernements, les entreprises, les scientifiques et la société civile pour élaborer des solutions audacieuses et concrètes pour la durabilité des océans. Coprésidé par la Norvège et les Palaos, le Groupe Océan mène des recherches approfondies et noue des partenariats visant à atteindre les Objectifs de développement durable des Nations Unies et à façonner un avenir résilient pour les populations et la planète.
