Ocean Panel Global Launch & National Events

Dec 2, 2020
Source: Ocean Panel

True sustainability has long been elusive for the ocean. It’s time to act. That’s why on 2 December, the Ocean Panel’s 14 serving world leaders united to launch a new ocean action agenda, committing to sustainably manage 100% of national waters by 2025. Learn more via @OceanPanel on Twitter and join the conversation using #SustainableOceanEconomy and #OceanAction100.

From 3 December, Ocean Panel countries hosted a series of national launch events & activities to signify and build global political will around their commitments. From Fiji to Mexico, in their national launches, countries shared their country-specific plans and discussed priority actions to transform how the world can protect and use the ocean and ultimately sustainably manage humanity’s impacts on it. They also spotlighted the action underway to support the agenda and accelerate, scale and finance ocean action. Countries were joined by prominent guest speakers from across government, business, finance, civil society and the scientific community.
